Concorde buys Delta Hotel

Businessmen Jean-Guy Sylvain, owner of the Concorde hotel on Grande Allée, acquires the Delta Québec hotel. The transaction was confirmed on Friday.

Beauceron and its partners bought a second hotel in downtown Quebec City. Talks had been ongoing since the fall, the deal was finalized on Thursday.

“We do not have more rooms in Quebec City, for tourists it’s good, for Quebec City it’s good,” said Sylvain in an interview with Radio-Canada.

He intends to invest to modernize the hotel located on René-Lévesque Boulevard.

“I think it’s a hotel that does not have a market share in the city right now and we’re going to work to give it to him,” he says.

Jean-Guy Sylvain plans to invest the same amount of money in the renovation of the Delta as he spent for the modernization of the Concorde, or $ 10 million. Work should begin by the fall and last a few years.

The Delta, which was owned by a Hong Kong company, is now in the hands of Quebec investors. The 200 employees will keep their jobs, according to the new owners.

The hotel was built in 1974. It has 377 rooms on 12 floors.
